Hair Electrolysis

Hair electrolysis is an FDA approved method of hair removal and the only FDA approved method for permanent hair removal. The practitioner inserts a thin metal needle into each hair follicle. Electricity is conducted through the needle to the root of the hair. Hair electrolysis causes damage to that area and the hair usually does not grow back or grows back lighter and finer than before.

One of the benefits of hair electrolysis is it can be used on anyone because it works directly on the hair follicle and does not effect skin pigment like a laser does.

Because hair electrolysis works on only small sections at a time it is primarily used for small areas like the eyebrows. The sensation is compared to that of a pricking or stinging.

The price of electrolysis is dependent on the number of sessions needed which will depend on the type of hair, area to be treated and other factors. Hair electrolysis on the eyebrows may be completed in a few months time, whereas hair electrolysis on the bikini area may take years.

There are at home electrolysis systems. However, I do not recommend them. Inserting a needle into your skin to remove hair is a skill that requires practice and precision. There are also at home hair removal machines that claim to work by sending a current of electricity through electronic tweezers. These are not FDA approved for permanent hair loss and have not been proven to work.

One successful at home method with high customer satisfaction is the Silk’n. The Silk’n use laser light technology to reduce hairs.  Read more in my article on the Silk’n or get the best prices at the Amazon Silk’n store. Amazon Silkn Store
