Vaniqa is an FDA approved hair removal cream. Permanent – no it is not, but it has been proven to slow facial hair growth in women. Vaniqa slows hair growth by blocking an enzyme in the hair follicles to keep them from growing.

As mentioned, Vaniqa is not a permanent hair removal cream, you have to keep using it to maintain results. But many users find it slows the rate of hair growth and helps make unwanted facial hair removal manageable. Vaniqa can be expensive but it may be covered by your insurance. One of the nice things about using a semi permanent hair removal cream is there is no pain. The creams glide on easily and wash off. There are also no nicks, cuts, bumps, red marks etc. that may be experienced from waxing or other methods. Keep in mind, it is always important to patch test any hair removal cream you opt to use.

Hopefully a permanent hair removal cream will be developed but for now semi permanent hair removal creams are easy, affordable and effective.

To date the only FDA approved method for permanent facial hair removal and permanent hair removal on any other part of the body is hair electrolysis. This applies to both at home methods and methods offered in physicians offices and salons ranging from laser facial hair removal to prescription medications.

Currently there are some machines on the market that promise permanent facial hair removal and permanent hair removal on other parts of the body using electric tweezers and home electrolysis devices. So unless you have a small area of hair to remove, a better way to approach hair removal is not as permanent hair removal but as temporary hair removal. Then you can make the best temporary hair removal choices that fit both your budget, lifestyle and skin type.
